Trustees

Reg and Madge Batten worked and wrote extensively on community development from their base in the University of London where Reg was Reader in Community Development Studies. Avec Resources' material builds on the foundations they laid.

John V. Budd, an Anglican priest, a member of the Project 70-75 research team,was a founder member of the Avec Resources Trust until 2006.

Helen Cameron, an AVEC Resources Trustee, undertakes research, teaching and consultancy in the areas of organisational and congregational studies. She is a guest lecturer at the London School of Economics, Fellow of the Wesley Centre at Oxford Brookes University, and Senior Tutor of a York Institute for Community Theology Course, Consultancy for Mission and Ministry.

 

Peter Forsaith, is Co-ordinator of the Methodist Studies Unit at Oxford Brookes University (which holds the AVEC archives) and an AVEC Resources Trustee. He is a historian specialising in 18th century religion, society and culture. He has researched areas of Methodist-related history over more than 25 years.

 

 

George Lovell, a Methodist minister, was Director of Avec from 1976-91 and the research worker. He was an AVEC Resources Trustee until 2006. From 1994—1999 he was a senior research fellow in the School of Theology, Westminster College, Oxford. He inaugurated a postgraduate course on consultancy and worked as a consultant in his retirement.

He died on 7th October 2018 in his 89th year. During the last decade of his life he worked on an extensive autoethnography, My Life, Work and Ministry: Notes from Retirement, which is hosted on this website by courtesy of the Avec Trustees.

David Read, an AVEC Resources Trustee, is a Methodist minister who, having studied consultancy for people engaged in Christian mission and ministry, offers consultancy services to clergy, laity and churches.

 

 

 

Catherine Widdicombe, an AVEC Resources Trustee until 2008, was Associate Director of Avec from 1976—92 and involved in training and consultancy work. She is a former President of the Grail, a Roman Catholic lay organization.
