The Church and Community Development: An Introduction

George Lovell
(An Avec Publication, originally published in 1972 as a Grail & Chester House Publication)
80pp

£3.50

A concise introduction, in non-technical language, to church and community development work. It describes how local churches can work with rather than for people. It gives illustrations of projects and schemes. It discusses the biblical theology underlying this approach. It is still used as a study book for church groups and to induct people in this approach, although one or two sections about context are dated.

Comment:

"This book is a most welcome and simple exposition of the principles of community work which are sometimes discussed in such technical jargon that, paradoxically, community development is made to appear to be the realm of specialists, just the opposite in fact of what it is."

Pauline Webb in The Methodist Recorder
